Meet the RN Artist/Educator

RN Art Line was created by a CCRN-certified registered nurse with over a decade of experience at the bedside. Jon started his nursing career on a med-surg floor, then a telemetry unit, and finally found his home in the ICU, where he’s been practicing for the last eight years. Before entering nursing, he trained as a visual artist, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Jon Farber, MSN, RN, CCRN, is a critical care nurse, nurse educator, and medical illustrator with experience in high-acuity intensive care settings and undergraduate nursing education. His work focuses on translating complex physiologic and clinical concepts into accessible visual frameworks that support deep learning and clinical reasoning. A detailed overview of academic preparation, clinical practice, and teaching experience is available in the professional background.

Drawing Inspiration

By blending critical care nursing with
illustration, RN Art Line creates visually driven, nurse-made designs that bring clarity, humor, and relatability to life in healthcare. From educational tools to wearable art, each piece is designed to support nurses through the chaos, celebrate the profession, and remind us that sometimes the best medicine is understanding, and a little laughter.

Art Practice

In parallel with his nursing and educational work, the creator of RN Art Line maintains a studio-based abstract art practice focused on automatic and intuitive mark-making. Rooted in process rather than outcome, the work explores rhythm, repetition, and controlled chaos, ideas that mirror both physiology and clinical decision-making. You can see more of his artwork here. His artwork is represented by Stremmel Gallery.

Endurance & The Outdoors

Jon is also an endurance trail runner who regularly competes in ultramarathons. Long hours in the mountains, often with a camera in hand, influence how he thinks, creates, and teaches, favoring patience, systems thinking, and staying steady under prolonged stress.
